Progress House, Inc.
Board of Director’s Information Highlights

It is the mission of Progress House, Inc. to provide quality comprehensive services for chemically dependent persons, families and communities through education, therapy, and rehabilitation.

Progress House, Inc. was established in El Dorado County in 1973 as a residential recovery facility for alcoholism. In the 33 years since it was established, it has grown to address the needs of the rural community in addressing the treatment of addiction to alcohol and other drugs. This continuum of services offered by Progress House, Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit includes non-residential (outpatient) treatment for all populations, residential treatment for men, women, pregnant women, and women with children, and transitional living for all of these populations. We are now physically located in El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, and Yolo Counties with 12 locations, and have served residents of 28 counties in the past two years. Our corporate office is in Placerville, CA. We are financially secure and in the middle of revitalizing our current facilities with upgraded infrastructure, furniture, as well as, additional interior and exterior upgrades.

Our Board of Directors consists of 9 regular members with 3 alternate members, serving for a three year term. In the absence of regular members at a meeting, the alternates act in the capacity of voting members. Additionally we encourage all Board of Directors as well as non members to participate on the committees of the Board. These committees currently consist of Audit, Financial, Risk Management/Physical Plant, Marketing, Executive, Golf Tournament (ad hoc) and the Board Recruitment Task Force(ad Hoc).

The expectation of a Board Director would be to actively participate in committee work (this is where the majority of the Board work is accomplished), actively participate in the monthly Board of Director’s Meetings (usually the fourth Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the corporate office), and support fund raising activities and other events of Progress House, Inc. Additionally there is an annual Board Retreat, usually in July, lasting from Saturday morning until noon Sunday. This year we spent from Friday evening through Sunday in San Francisco for our retreat.

For those people that would like to just “get their feet wet” we recommend participation on a committee that would be of interest to you. This would give you a chance to get to know current Board Members and Management Staff, learn more of the mission of Progress House, and in general become more familiar and comfortable before making the commitment to be a Board Member.
